Is it free?
Yes. Sunny terraces is completely free and ad-free.
Do I need to register or create an account?
No. There are no accounts or sign-in: you open the app and start using it.
Which cities does it cover?
For now Barcelona and Madrid, using each city council's official lists of licensed terraces.
Does it use my location? Do you store it?
If you grant permission, your location is used only inside your browser to centre the map. It is never sent to our servers or to third parties, and it is not stored.
Where does the terrace data come from?
From official open data of the Barcelona and Madrid city councils, together with building mapping to estimate shadows.
How accurate is the sun and shade calculation?
It is an estimate based on the sun's position and building heights. It does not account for trees, awnings or canopies, so it works as a quick guide, not an exact measurement.
Can I see the trees and pollen?
Yes. You can turn on a layer with the nearby trees on the map and, if you have allergies, mark the pollen groups that affect you to highlight the matching species in red. That preference is stored only on your device.
Does it work on mobile? Can I install it?
Yes. It works in the mobile browser and can be installed as an app (PWA) to open it from your home screen.
Does it work offline?
Partly. It saves data so you can consult it offline, although some features need the internet to update.
Does it use cookies?
It uses no tracking cookies. Only what's needed to remember your preferences is stored on your device.
